N. Caldwell’s New Fire Chief Rises Through Ranks, Sets Milestone

Tim Peterson took the oath of office as chief of the North Caldwell Fire Department.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — The North Caldwell Fire Department’s new chief has set a milestone for the agency, officials reported Tuesday.

When Tim Peterson took the oath of office during a Jan. 28 ceremony, he became the first NCFD chief to begin his career with the North Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department as a junior firefighter.

“Congrats, chief,” his peers wrote on social media.

Peterson has received several accolades throughout this career as a public safety worker, including a commendation for helping to rescue a North Caldwell family from a fiery car crash in 2010.
