New Jersey Republicans: ‘Murphy-ism’ Is Bad News (VIDEO)

It's New Jersey Republican leaders' latest political catchphrase: "Murphy-ism." Find out what it means and why they think it's bad for you.

They’re calling it “Murphy-ism.”

On Thursday, the New Jersey Assembly Republicans held a press conference on “all things Governor [Phil] Murphy is doing wrong” before the day’s voting session. During the media event, the Garden State GOP members launched a new catchphrase that aims to sum up all of the Democratic party member’s shortcomings since taking the reins from former governor Chris Christie in January.

Here’s how Assembly GOP Leader Jon Bramnick (District 21) defines “Murphy-ism”:

“A radical, anti-home rule form of government that is dangerous - in my judgement - to the future of this state.”

In a video that sets out to explain why “Murphy-ism” is bad news for New Jersey, several Republican leaders blast the former Goldman Sachs executive for allegedly:

  • “Breaking promises on pensions and affordable housing”
  • “Raising taxes and increasing spending”
  • “Making the state more expensive and lacking leadership on major issues”
