NJ History from 1664 to Today, a talk at Caldwell Library
New Jersey's Intriguing 350 Year History, a talk by Rutgers Professor Rockland , funded by the NJ Council for the Humanities

On Tuesday September 16, from 6:30pm-7:30pm, Caldwell Public Library hosts a presentation on New Jersey’s intriguing 350 year history by Michael Aaron Rockland, Professor of American Studies at Rutgers University. Professor Rockland will trace New Jersey’s complex origin in1664 as two Jerseys, East and West, and why many years passed before New Jersey became a unified colony. He will discuss the impact of New Jersey’s juxtaposition between New York and Philadelphia, the “Garden State” nickname and why New Jersey has been enjoying a renaissance in recent years. Professor Rockland teaches a course on Jerseyana, writes for New Jersey Monthly magazine and has published four acclaimed books about New Jersey.
