North Caldwell BOE Considering ‘Major Capital Projects’ As Buildings Age

"Aging buildings" and "potential demographic changes within the community" have North Caldwell's BOE members thinking about major upgrades.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — The North Caldwell Board of Education is considering the possibility of embarking on “major capital projects” in light of “aging buildings and potential demographic changes within the community,” according to school officials.

In a Sept. 26 email newsletter, district officials stated that consideration is being given to the possibility of major capital projects, including possible expansion of both schools.

“The board, in cooperation with our architectural firm, is in the process of compiling and reviewing a list of its long-term needs and updating its demographic study to reflect the increase in number of homes in the borough,” school officials wrote.

“As we advance through the planning process, the board will engage the community through a number of mechanisms to obtain feedback and opinions on the options available to the community,” administrators said. “Any major expansion would be presented in a referendum, which requires a ballot vote through the election process. Long-range facility planning will be a primary focus of the Board over the next 12 to 36 months.”

Community members interested in this topic should join the board at its regular meetings, administrators stated. Click here for North Caldwell Board of Education meeting information.
