North Caldwell BOE’s Top Goals: Teacher Contract, ‘Space Limits'

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — Hammering out a new contract with the local teachers’ union and dealing with “space limitations” at both of its schools are among the top priorities of the North Caldwell Public School District for 2018-19, administrators say.

During its public meeting last month, the North Caldwell Board of Education announced five top goals for next school year:

• “Finalize a three-year contract with the teacher's union that is fiscally responsible and sustainable to the district while also recognizing the value of our teachers”
• “Develop architectural options to solve current space limitations at both schools, and develop facility plans to address the future increased student enrollment due to housing development within the district”
• “Continue to improve community relations and engagement and provide the community with timely and transparent information on programs, activities and priorities”
• “Maintain ongoing and meaningful dialogue with borough government to resolve identified priorities and engage in consistent dialogue around priorities such as transportation, safety, shared services and housing development”
• “On an ongoing basis, evaluate and refine as necessary the processes, outcomes, and tools for measuring and analyzing student achievement data and metrics”
