North Caldwell Police Armor Up

Several North Caldwell police officers are now equipped with body armor and ballistic helmets thanks to donations from the community.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — Have you recently supported the North Caldwell Police Foundation with a donation? If so, you’re partly responsible for helping to armor the local police force.

The North Caldwell Police Department posted the following message of thanks to its Facebook page on Friday:

“In an effort to provide the best protection for our officers, we are issuing every North Caldwell police officer Level IV hard armor plates and carriers, and Level III ballistic helmets. We hope that our officers never need to use them, but we believe it is better to have this equipment and not need it, than to need it and not have it.”

According to the North Caldwell Police Department, the equipment was purchased with donations made to the North Caldwell Police Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed a few years ago to help fund “programs, training and equipment which would otherwise be unavailable under the current state budgetary constraints.”

“We are grateful for your generous donations to the foundation and for your support,” North Caldwell police wrote.
