North Caldwell Teen With Heart Condition Gets His 'Make A Wish' From NY Giants
An Essex County teen who received a heart transplant at a young age was surprised when several New York Giants said he'd get his wish.
THE CALDWELLS, NJ — A North Caldwell teen with a heart condition got his wish from the Make-A-Wish foundation recently when he joined Commissioner Roger Goodell at the 2022 NFL Draft to announce the first round draft choice of his favorite team, the New York Giants.
Sam Prince, 19, was notified last month by former Giants quarterback Eli Manning, General Manager Joe Schoen, and Head Coach Brian Daboll that he would get his wish. An ESPN crew captured his surprise and will air the video as part of the ESPN "My Wish" series in July.
Prince, who received a heart transplant at a young age, also got to spend four days in Las Vegas (along with his family) as part of the wish, and walked on the red carpet.

"The Giants have been deeply involved with Make-A-Wish for decades," the foundation noted, "creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses throughout New Jersey and across the country."
Children do not have to be terminally ill to receive a wish, but often battle difficult conditions and illnesses. "In fact," notes the charity, "most children we serve are able to manage, and even overcome, their illnesses and view the wish as an important part of the healing process."
