Paterson Cops Make Heroin And Gun Bust At Local Liquor Store

Paterson police arrested two employees at Hascup's Liquor Store on 12th Avenue for drug/gun offenses, including assault rifle possession.

The Paterson Police Department has arrested two employees of a local liquor store for heroin and gun charges.

According to Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale, in an “effort to attack the drug dealing activities on 12th Avenue,” authorities have been conducting an investigation into Hascup’s Liquor Store on 12th Avenue.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two employees - Johanna Rodriguez, 25, and Roberto Liriano, 39, both of Hawthorne - at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police reported.

During the arrest, Paterson police seized 240 glassines of heroin and a loaded KelTec .223 caliber assault rifle in addition to cash.

Police charged Rodriguez and Liriano with heroin possession with intent to distribute (within 500 feet of the King’s Court Freedom Village Housing Development), weapon possession and possession of a firearm while distributing CDS.

The store will also face ABC violations, police stated.
