Paterson Police Conduct Weekend Crime Suppression, Seize Glut Of Drugs And Guns

The Paterson Police Department arrested more than two dozen people, recovered a glut of drugs and guns and issued more than 2,700 motor vehicle violations during a Special Operations Group crime suppression detail from Sept. 11 to 13.

Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale reported that the special operation included police deployment throughout the city at “identified hot spots.”

Officers from the department’s Traffic, Cease Fire, Narco, Emergency Response Team and Patrol Units participated in the crackdown effort.

As part of the sweep, police:

  • Issued 2,720 Motor Vehicle Violations
  • Issued 174 TCOPs
  • Towed 159 Vehicles
  • Deployed 17 K-9 units

  • 18 Warrant Arrests
  • 7 drug-related activity arrests
  • 1 Obstructing Arrest
  • 1 Eluding Arrest
  • 1 Disorderly Person Arrest
  • 3 Possession of a Weapon Arrests

In addition, police seized:

  • 311 glassines of heroin Recovered
  • 5 Baggies of Crack Cocaine Recovered
  • 8 Grams & 107 Baggies of Marijuana Recovered
  • 41 MDMA Recovered
  • 29 Oxycodone Pills Recovered
  • $1,105 in Cash
  • Two .45 caliber handguns (one reported stolen from Morris County)
  • One 9 mm Mac11 with high-capacity magazine
  • Numerous illegal alcoholic beverages
