Pickleball Courts, Tennis Upgrades At Grover Cleveland Park
Tennis and pickleball players will get a boost from upgrades at the county-run park, which is located in Caldwell and Essex Fells.

CALDWELL, NJ — Tennis and pickleball players in the Caldwell area will get a boost from a recently completed “modernization” project at Grover Cleveland Park.
Earlier this week, officials announced the completion of work at the county-run park, which is located in Caldwell and Essex Fells. Two of the existing tennis courts were transitioned to accommodate four pickleball courts; there are two tennis courts remaining.
The complex also received a new playing surface, fencing and nets and sports lighting.

According to county officials, the improvements to the tennis facility were designed in-house by the Essex County Department of Public Works. Shore Top Construction Corp. from Freehold was awarded a publicly bid contract for $566,200 to perform the construction work. The project was funded with a grant from the American Rescue Plan. Work started in April.
“Updating the tennis courts and including pickleball courts helps meet the demand of these two popular sports and provides residents with modern facilities to play on,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said.

The project also got a thumbs-up from Essex County commissioners Brendan Gill and Patricia Sebold.
“Pickleball is a growing sport and creating facilities people need is important,” Gill said.
