Police: 'No Credible Threat' To Caldwell/West Caldwell Schools From TikTok Trend

Rumors on social media about a threat to schools Friday have prompted officials in many NJ towns to respond.

THE CALDWELLS, NJ — Despite rumors making the rounds on social media about threats to schools for Friday, "no credible threat" has been received in the Caldwell/West Caldwell schools, the West Caldwell police said Thursday night, using language used by other law enforcement officials in response.

However, the police said they'd have a presence in the schools overnight and on Friday.

In an advisory titled "National TikTok School Violence Threat," the police said:

"The West Caldwell Police Department is aware of social media posts circulating on TikTok regarding threatened potential school violence. Please be advised that there have been no
threats made to any of the Caldwell/West Caldwell Schools.

"We are in close contact with the Superintendent of Schools and will continue to closely monitor national, state, county and local intelligence on the threat.

"There will be an increased presence of uniformed and plain clothes officers at each of the schools overnight, at morning arrival, throughout the school day, and dismissal.

"As alway, we are stronger together as a community when we communicate with one another. We remind everyone to be extra vigilant in their observations, not only at our schools, but in our daily travels.
