Porsche 911 Stolen From N. Caldwell Driveway

White convertible taken from outside Oak Place residence over the weekend.

The North Caldwell Police Department is investigating the borough's first stolen vehicle incident in three years after a Porsche 911 was taken from a residential driveway over the weekend.

According to Police Chief Mark Deuer, an Oak Place resident, who had been away since Friday, returned home Sunday night at about 7 p.m., and discovered the 2002 white Porsche 911 with a blue convertible roof missing from his driveway.

The keys were not in the vehicle, which has New Jersey license plates SYS46M, and there was no broken glass on the ground, Deuer said.

A witness in the area noticed a gray Mitsubishi Galant driving slowly in the neighborhood that went up and down the street several times over the weekend, Deuer said. However, it's unknown if it's related to the stolen car, Deuer said.

The incident, which is the first of its kind in North Caldwell since 2007, remains under investigation. If anyone has information, contact the police department at 973-226-0800.
