Power Outage In Fairfield: Downed Utility Poles, Traffic Light Out
Businesses in the impacted area can anticipate the power being out for the rest of the work day, Fairfield officials said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A large power outage took place in Fairfield on Monday involving downed utility poles and an inoperable traffic light.
The Township of Fairfield issued the following advisory at 11:11 a.m.:
“Multiple utility poles and wires are down near Eldridge Road in Fairfield. This has caused the traffic light at Fairfield Road/New Dutch Lane to be inoperable. Officers are on scene at this location utilizing manual traffic control. Expect delays in this area throughout the day. Businesses that have been affected in the area can anticipate the power being out for the rest of the work day. Residents that are affected, please know this power outage is affecting as many as eight utility poles. Damage is extensive and there is no known repair timeframe.”
“Please do not call the police department asking for this information as it is unknown at this time,” the township stated.

The traffic light at Fairfield/New Dutch is now operational, the borough announced at 1:37 p.m.
The approximate power restore time is midnight, officials said.
