Primary Day in the Caldwells: Local Races

The polling places are open Tuesday throughout the Caldwells for local and state races. The polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight. 

Caldwell

There are two seats open on the Caldwell Borough Committee for three-year terms.

Republicans on the ballot are incumbent Tom O'Donnell and challenger Pasquale Capozzoli. 

Democrats on the ballot are Maureen McNish and Grace Kerrigan.

Polling places for Caldwell residents are:

District 1: Lincoln Elementary School, at 1200 Grant St. 

Districts 2 and 3: Caldwell Fire House, at 30 Roseland Ave. 

Districts 4, 5 and 6: Grover Cleveland Middle School, at 36 Academy Road. 

District 7: Caldwell College, at 120 Bloomfield Ave. 

North Caldwell

In the Borough of North Caldwell, two incumbents are seeking reelection carrying three-year terms.

Republican Councilmen Arthur Rees and Joshua Raymond are on the ballot and running uncontested. 

The polling place for North Caldwell residents in all four Districts is at Notre Dame Church, at 359 Central Ave.

West Caldwell

Two candidates are running unopposed for a two seats on the West Caldwell Township Council. 

Republican incumbents Joseph Cecer and Stephen T. Wolsky are seeking reelection for three-year terms on the council. 

Polling places for West Caldwell residents are: 

Districts 1, 2 and 7: Washington Elementary School, at 201 Central Ave. 

Districts 3, 4 and 8: Harrison Elementary School, at 104 Gray St. 

Districts 5 and 6: Jefferson Elementary School, at 85 Prospect St. 

District 9: Wilson Elementary School, at 71 Orton Road. 

Gubernatorial

Gov. Chris Christie is also seeking another term in office, but he will face a primary challenge today from an opponent who believes the governor has failed to adhere to the sense of conservatism and small government demanded by Republican ideals.

Seeking to supplant the Republican governor and earn the GOP nomination is Somers Point resident Seth Grossman, a conservative with tea party notions.  

For the Democrats, front runner Barbara Buono will contend with East Orange mayoral aide Troy Webster in Tuesday's primary.
