Suspicious W. Caldwell Car Fire Under Investigation

Vehicle found fully engulfed in an abandoned auto dealership parking lot.

The cause of a fully engulfed car fire found in an abandoned West Caldwell car dealership parking lot during the overnight hours on Monday is under investigation, West Caldwell Fire Chief Charles Holden said.

According to Holden, a police officer patrolling the area spotted the vehicle on fire in the southwestern corner of the former Clairmont Auto Group parking lot at 1220 Bloomfield Ave., at about 2:20 a.m.

When the fire department arrived, the late model Toyota was fully engulfed in flames, Holden said.
