SUV Pushes Parked Car 100 Feet on Bloomfield Ave.

W. Caldwell police investigate accident near West Essex First Aid Squad.

West Caldwell Police are investigating a crash that occurred late Wednesday night when a Butler man slammed his SUV into the rear of a parked vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue near the West Essex First Aid Squad.

Police Chief Michael Bramhall said Thursday Blaze Sacchi, 18, was traveling eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue when his 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe struck the rear driver's side of a parked 2001 Honda sedan, owned by West Caldwell resident John Molinski, at about 11:40 p.m.

The impact pushed the unoccupied Honda approximately 100 feet before it came to rest at the entrance to the First Aid Squad's auxiliary parking lot on Bloomfield Avenue near the corner of Kanouse Place, Bramhall said.

Sacchi and the two passengers in the Tahoe, Elizabeth Menca, 17, of West Caldwell, and Cindy Caro, 18, of Caldwell, were not injured in the crash, Bramhall said.

There was significant damage to the Honda, while the Tahoe sustained "moderate" front-end damage, according to Bramhall, who said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
