Third Gold Rush Winner Announced

Pompton Plains resident submitted winning entry at Smith & Co.

Councilman Joe Norton, Councilwoman Ann Dassing and Caldwell Merchants Association President June Cowell drew the third winner in the CMA Gold Rush contest Saturday afternoon at the Caldwell Green.

The winner, whose identity the CMA doesn't want released until the person is notified, is a Pompton Plains resident who submitted the entry at Smith & Co. on Smull Avenue.

This is the third of four drawings in the inaugural CMA Gold Rush, an initiative created by Norton to increase business in downtown Caldwell.

Today's winner will receive $1,500 in merchant money that can be used at any of the 40 participating stores and restaurants.

The grand prize winner who will receive $5,000 in merchant money and $2,000 in cash will be announced New Year's Day at 3 p.m. at Calandra's Italian Village.
