Trinity Academy Celebrates Commencement

School graduates 29 eighth graders.

Trinity Academy graduated 29 eighth graders during its Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 1, at 7 p.m., at in Caldwell.

The eighth graders began their graduation day in the morning with a special Baccalaureate Mass at St. Aloysius, where the graduates gathered with their families and the entire student body to celebrate First Friday Mass for the last time as students.

During the formal graduation ceremony that evening, administration and faculty led the procession of the Class of 2012 graduates. Family and friends in attendance watched with joy as the eighth graders received their diplomas, symbolizing the end of one chapter of their lives and the beginning of another.

Principal Dorothy McMahon addressed the graduates noting, “You have been encouraged to be the good soil upon which the seed will fall. Upon good soil, much fruit will be produced, and you have certainly borne much fruit this year.”

The graduates were then addressed by Trinity Academy Alumnus, Erin Bolger, Class of 2008. In addition, the President's Award for Academic Excellence was given to all students who attained a GPA of A or higher, and Gold, Silver and Bronze Academic Medals were awarded to the students who attained the highest, second highest and third highest averages respectively.

The graduation festivities actually began on Friday, May 25, with the traditional “ClapOut,” an emotional and heartwarming annual event in which the entire student body, grades kindergarten through grade 7, line the halls and "clap-out" the Trinity graduates as they leave the building on the last day of scheduled classes. Graduation week began with the students enjoying a day of fun at Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, as well as participating in the Annual Graduate's Retreat facilitated by Father Anthony Randazzo at . The graduates also gathered at the Essex Fells Country Club on May 30 for the Annual 8th Grade Social, which included dinner and dancing.

Many Trinity Academy graduates are headed to and have received academic scholarships to top Catholic private high schools including DePaul Catholic, Lacordaire Academy, Morris Catholic, , Oak Knoll, Oratory Prep, Queen of Peace High School, Saint Dominic Academy, Saint Mary’s High School, Saint Peter’s Prep and Seton Hall Prep. Graduates have also been invited to participate in honors classes in Algebra, English, History, Literature, Math, Science and Theology at DePaul High School, , Lacordaire Academy, Mount Saint Dominic Academy, Oratory Prep, Queen of Peace High School, Saint Joseph’s High School, Saint Peter’s Prep and Seton Hall Prep.
