The University Women of West Essex (UWWE) awarded five college scholarships in June 2019. The awarding of scholarships to deserving women is the central aim of UWWE. For many years, the UWWE has presented scholarships to area high school students, as well as to mature women returning to college.
A scholarship was awarded to Danielle Clark, a senior at West Essex High School, who will attend Ramapo College majoring in Nursing. Three graduates of James Caldwell High School were recognized with scholarships by UWWE: Rory Garetano, who will attend the University of Scranton majoring in Nursing; Nicole Tanelli, who will attend Northeastern University majoring in Engineering; and Madelyn Chelak who will attend Loyola University majoring in Art History. The UWWE also awards a scholarship to a woman who had postponed college after high school. The 2019 UWWE Mature Woman’s Scholarship was given to Angela Centanni, a resident of Roseland, who is pursuing a Nursing degree at Essex County College.
