UPDATE: Five-Car Accident Remains Under Investigation
Four people were treated for minor injuries and released. Patch reader captures videos of the scene.
Police are still investigating the cause of a five-car accident on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell which sent four people to area hospitals with minor injuries last week.
The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, leaving the vehicles involved piled together in the center of the busy road between Smull and Roseland avenues.
Three of the five drivers and one passenger, a child, were transported to area hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries and released, according to Caldwell Police Sgt. Demetrios Andrinopoulos.

“One of the drivers rear-ended one of the vehicles causing him to go into the ongoing traffic,” said Andrinopoulos, about how the accident is believed to have started. “It looked a lot worse initially than it really was,” he said.
A Patch reader standing inside captured the attached videos after the crash. The videos show one of the cars vaulted on top of another as well as a driver being pulled out.
Charges are pending and Officer Matthew D’Angelo is handling the investigation.
More information will be published once the investigation is completed.
