WATCH: Woman Takes Pocketbook From Shopping Cart In Essex County
Police are seeking a woman who allegedly stole a pocketbook from a shopping cart and tried to use the credit cards at the Willowbrook Mall.
The Cedar Grove Police Department is seeking a young woman who apparantly stole a victim’s pocketbook at the Pompton Avenue Foodtown Supermarket on Thursday.
According to police, the pocketbook theft occurred at 5:21 p.m. while the victim was shopping.
Store surveillance video shows a young woman take the victim’s pocketbook from her shopping cart when the victim turned her back.

Police said that the woman was then reportedly seen leaving the store in the company of an older female carrying a toddler, also considered a suspect in the incident. [See Photo 2]
Shortly after discovering the theft, the victim contacted her credit card companies and was informed the cards had just been used at three different locations at the Willowbrook Mall.

Officers responded to the mall area but were unable to locate the suspects.
Cedar Grove Police Chief Richard Vanderstreet told Patch that police have images of the older female attempting to use the victim’s credit cards at the mall.
According to police, the surveillance video revealed the women left the mall in a large, black SUV believed to be a Chevrolet model. Anyone with information should contact Cedar Grove Police Detective Michael Tower at 973-239-4100.
