Water Main Break In North Caldwell: Road Closed, Discolored Water Possible

Water service disruption is likely throughout the afternoon and into the evening, borough officials said.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — A water main break took place on Elm Road in North Caldwell on Wednesday, authorities say.

The North Caldwell Water Department said the road will only be open to local traffic while repairs are being made.

“For the safety of vehicle passengers and the crew working, please do not drive through any road closure,” the department advised.

Water service disruption is likely throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Affected residents can expect discoloration once water service is restored. They should run their faucets until the water is clear, officials said.

“Thank you in advance for your patience as repairs are made,” the water department added.

The Caldwell Police Department also issued an advisory on Wednesday about the water main break. Authorities reported: "Please be advised that Elm Road will be closed from Mountain Avenue to White Rock Road for water utility repairs. Residents will have access to their residences."
