West Caldwell 2017 Budget Proposed: Average Homeowner Would Face $65 Tax Hike

West Caldwell property owners would face a 2.23 percent tax increase if the proposed 2017 budget passes.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — West Caldwell property owners would face a 2.23 percent tax increase if the proposed 2017 budget passes, according to municipal officials.

Earlier this month, West Caldwell town officials introduced a proposed 2017 budget with a $12.34 million local tax levy, up $282,486 from 2016.

The average homeowner with a property valued at $437,900 would face a $64.92 tax increase if the budget passes, Township Administrator Adam Brewer stated.

The introduced 2017 West Caldwell municipal budget can be seen online here.

A hearing on the budget and tax resolution will be held at the West Caldwell Municipal Building at 7:15 p.m. on April 18, at which time taxpayers and other interested community members can present discussion points, officials stated.
