West Caldwell Among 'Safest Towns' In NJ: Study

West Caldwell, NJ - A recent report named West Caldwell as one of the the safest towns in all of New Jersey.
A report released this week by creditdonkey.com, which analyzed the Uniform Crime Report data for 2014 (the last full year statistics were available) for the 50 safest towns in the Garden State put West Caldwell at # 11.
The study broke the scoring down into four categories:

- Violent crime per 1,000 residents
- Robbery per 1,000 residents
- Property crime per 1,000 residents
- Burglary per 1,000 residents
The website then formulated a scoring method combining the categories. The lower the score, the higher the ranking.
The website also explained that not all towns submit the crime data to the FBI, which is self-reported by each municipality.

“Family comes first in West Caldwell, and that’s evident in the abundance of recreational and educational programs that are offered to all of its residents,” the report states. “Over the years, the landscape of the city has changed, but one thing remains the same—crime is something you don’t hear a lot about. In 2014, West Caldwell reported just one robbery and five burglaries, earning it one of the best ratings for property crimes on our list.”
