West Caldwell GOPs Announce Candidate Slate For 2017 Election

The West Caldwell Republican County Committee and Chairman Christopher Smith have announced their
2017 slate of candidates representing West Caldwell for the upcoming 2017 election.

At a press conference last month, Smith reported:

“I am pleased to announce that Council President Michael A. Docteroff and Councilwoman Kathy Lynn Canale have filed their petitions to run for West Caldwell Council. The West Caldwell Republican County Committee has endorsed the 2 candidates for nomination and will continue to support the candidates. West Caldwell Council President Michael Docteroff is seeking his second full, three-year term and Councilwoman Candidate Kathy Canale is seeking her second full three-year term. Both candidates are long time residents and have extensive involvement in the community. On behalf of the West Caldwell Republican County Committee we are very pleased with these candidates and we feel strongly that both will continue to represent our community well.”

Docteroff is currently serving on the Township Council and is seeking his second full three-year term. Docteroff has served the community of West Caldwell for many years as a volunteer in recreation athletics as well as the Caldwell Athletic Organization, and he has served as President of the Caldwell Gridiron Club. He has also served as a member of the West Caldwell Zoning Board of Adjustment and is also currently serving as a volunteer member of the West Caldwell Planning Board.

Docteroff, a graduate of Manhattan College with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems, is
an entrepreneur in the field of technology serving as President of M.A.D. Technologies, offering
consulting expertise primarily in the area of technology for the Hospitality Industry. He is married to
Stacy Veneri Docteroff and has two children, Lauren, 24, who currently works for Sony Corporation and Jack, 21, a junior at Montclair State University.

Councilwoman Canale has lived in West Caldwell most of her life and currently serves as Chair of the Recreation Committee and Vice-Chair of the Department of Public Works. She has also served the community in other volunteer capacities including volunteer coaching for the C-WC recreation basketball and soccer programs as well as teaching CCD for the Parish Of Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church and has served with the Home School Associations in various schools in Caldwell and West Caldwell.

Canale graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Marketing and has worked for various corporations including Adidas, Ann Taylor, and Ralph Lauren. She also worked for many years for the now retired Kupcho family business, Pine Florist in Verona. She is currently employed as an Assistant Department Manager at Nordstrom Garden State Plaza. She is married to Gary and has three children: Madison, who attends the University of Maine, Claudia, a senior at JCHS who will be heading out to San Diego State University in the fall, and Julia, a junior at JCHS.

In the coming weeks Canale and Docteroff will select a campaign team and announce them at a kickoff
event planned on May 23, 2017.
