West Caldwell Resident, Hospital Exec Accepted To Exclusive Fellowship

Nancy O'Keefe Hamstra, a West Caldwell resident and Secaucus native, has served in multiple executive positions at University Hospital.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — A West Caldwell resident and Essex County hospital executive was recently accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a national society for healthcare professionals.

According to a news release, Nancy O’Keefe Hamstra, a West Caldwell resident and Secaucus native, has served in multiple executive positions at University Hospital. From June of 2015 until February of 2016, Hamstra served as interim president and CEO after more than 34 years at the hospital.

To obtain fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

Hamstra holds a master’s degree in public administration from Rutgers University and an undergraduate degree in community health services from Montclair State University.
