West Caldwell Students Send Backpacks To Harvey, Irma Victims

Young students at Lightbridge Academy in West Caldwell are learning a valuable lesson about compassion.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Young students at Lightbridge Academy in West Caldwell are learning a valuable lesson about compassion as part of a recent school project to support the children and families in Texas and Florida following the recent storm disasters.

The children, parents and staff at Lightbridge Academy, which has nearly 30 locations in the mid-Atlantic region in addition to their West Caldwell location, have assembled more than 2,000 “I Care” backpacks filled with school supplies, comfort and care items with encouraging letters and pictures from Lightbridge Academy students.

The backpacks will be taken to Texas and Florida for donation, administrators said.

If community members are interested in helping to fill a backpack, new items that Lightbridge Academy is collecting include small coloring books and crayons, lightweight books, travel-sized toothbrushes and toiletries, travel-sized wipes, small blankets, hand sanitizer, children’s socks, children’s underwear, and small push toys.

Items can be delivered to Lightbridge Academy location at 1104 Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell. For more information, call 937-882-1111.
