West Caldwell Teen Helps Launch Benefit Concert For Ambulance Unit
The Aug. 20 show is organized by two high school students from West Caldwell and Nutley.
CALDWELL, NJ — Essex County rock fans and Montclair Volunteer Ambulance Unit boosters will find themselves cheering side by side during an upcoming fundraiser concert at the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell this weekend.
According to a news release, five bands will perform in the downstairs gymnasium at the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell at 326 Bloomfield Ave. in Caldwell at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 as part of a benefit concert for the Montclair Volunteer Ambulance Unit.
The concert was organized by Ben Mulick of West Caldwell - a member of First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell - and Shane Sullivan of Nutley, both of whom are 16-year-old high school students.

“It’s a great night to hear some excellent local music and support a good cause,” Mulick said.
The bands range from New Jersey indie pop groups to a band started in Korea made up of young adults from America. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and the concert goes from 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is offered on a sliding scale from $5 to $8 dollars. The show is alcohol-free, but sodas, water, pizza and snacks will be offered for sale.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Montclair Volunteer Ambulance Unit, a non-profit organization that relies on donations to service emergency medical calls in Montclair and provides mutual aid to the surrounding areas.
First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell is underwriting the cost of hosting the concert as part of a new community outreach program, event organizers stated.
The bands performing include:
- Ghost Camp – An indie rock band from New Brunswick, N.J.
- Bible Gun – A chamber pop band from Montclair, N.J.
- Heavy Sigh – An emo/dream pop band from Bergen County, N.J.
- Colin Phils – An indie rock band, part math-rock, originally formed in Korea that has performed in China and America.
- Peaer – A soft math trio from Brooklyn, N.Y.
