West Essex 1st Aid Squad Releases Year-End Call Stats

Last year was a busy one for the West Essex 1st Aid Squad, which serves Caldwell, North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Essex Fells and Fairfield.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Last year was a busy year for the West Essex First Aid Squad. How busy? In 2017, the squad responded to 2,730 calls.

On Wednesday, the West Essex First Aid Squad – which services the towns of West Caldwell, North Caldwell, Caldwell, Fairfield and Essex Fells – shared some of its 2017 call statistics.

According to the first aid squad, it successfully revived patients 13 times with CPR, and administered Narcan 20 times to reverse the effects of drug overdoses. During their overall efforts, the squad drove 40,076 miles and its members put in 8,244 on-the-job hours.

In addition, 18 new members joined the squad during 2017, and eight earned their EMT certifications.
