West Essex High School Student-Athlete Honored

Senior named Essex County chapter representative for leadership, sports skills.

On March 11, West Essex High School senior Roberto LoCascio of Fairfield was honored as the Essex County Chapter of the National Football Foundation’s Scholar Athlete representative from West Essex at the chapter’s dinner at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.

According to a release, this year was the 50th anniversary of the award, which is given to one player from each of the 27 football schools in Essex County who demonstrates leadership, dedication and excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

West Essex High School Football Coach Chris Benacquista congratulated LoCascio.

“Roberto has had an amazing football career at West Essex and even more importantly, he has been a leader in the classroom and in the community,” stated Benacquista in a release. “I cannot think of a more deserving recipient of this prestigious award.”

According to a release, LoCascio plans to attend Villanova University in the fall where he will play lacrosse.
