West Essex Regional Student Earns $7K Scholarship From CPA Group

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A West Essex Regional School District student recently earned a $7,000 scholarship from the Roseland-based New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA).

According to the NJCPA, the awards are open to accounting students at New Jersey colleges who are currently in their junior or senior year and New Jersey high school seniors who plan to major in accounting or obtain a concentration in accounting. The West Essex Regional School District shared news of Evan Katz’s triumph on social media:

“West Essex senior Evan Katz was awarded $7,000 scholarship from the NJCPA. Evan attended the NJCPA Scholarship awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 24 at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey.”

The NJCPA awarded nearly $375,000 in scholarships to 70 New Jersey high school and college students this year, according to the group.

Montville Township High School and Wayne Hills High School had the highest amount of concentrated winners per high school with three each, while eight students were awarded from all of Rutgers University campuses and six were awarded at Stockton University.

Fifteen four-year awards of $7,000 were presented to high school students along with 34 one-year awards of $6,000 each to college students. In addition, the NJCPA’s Atlantic/Cape May, Bergen and Mercer chapters presented various sums of awards to local students, and five minority awards were presented in conjunction with the American Institute of CPAs and the National Association of Black Accountants, the NJCPA stated.

High school seniors who were awarded four-year scholarships currently reside in Allendale, Denville, Harrington Park, Kendall Park, Little Egg Harbor, Marlton, Montville, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Towaco, Wayne and Whippany.

New Jersey-based college recipients currently attend Bergen Community College, Caldwell University, The College of New Jersey, Fairfield University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Felician University, Monmouth University, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Rider University, Rowan University, Rutgers Business School, Rutgers University, Rutgers University-Newark, Seton Hall University, Stockton University, University of Delaware, University of Maryland: College Park, University of Scranton and William Paterson University of New Jersey.
