West Essex Residents Cast in Mount St. Dominic Academy Fall Production Radium Girls
Essex Fells, Verona, West Caldwell residents appear in Mount St. Dominic Academy production Radium Girls on Nov.13 and Nov. 14

Mount Saint Dominic Academy presents Radium Girls on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14 at 7:30pm in the Doris Byrne Performing Arts Center at Mount St. Dominic Academy. Local students appear in the cast: Essex Fells resident Emily King’16 will play the characters of Kathryn Schaub and Harriet Roeder. Verona resident Siharah Castillo’19 will play Katherine WIley and Dr. Marie Curie. West Caldwell resident Molly Burke will play the character Martland.
Radium Girls is Inspired by the true story of the women dial painters of Orange, New Jersey who fought to bring about workplace safety standards and expose the truth about radiation poisoning in humans. In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them at the United States Radium Corporation in Orange, NJ began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. The play traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Written with warmth and humor, Radium Girls is a fast-moving, highly theatrical ensemble piece.
