What's Happening With Gas Prices in the Caldwells?
Prices rose 8% across the country in February.
February has taken a toll on drivers, with the price of gas going up by an average of 8 percent across the country. And, according to experts, gas prices over the summer are only expected to get worse.
On Wednesday, the price of unleaded gasoline climbed for the 22nd day in a row to a nationwide average of $3.73 per gallon, according to the motorist group AAA.
So far this year, gas prices have shot up by about 14 percent. Even so, the average price is far from the record high of $4.11 reported in July 2008.

At least prices in New Jersey are not as high as in Alaska, California, and Hawaii, where the cost of a gallon of gas has risen beyond $4.
Reports that Iran may shut down the strait of Hormuz and the increasing price of oil appear to be behind the rising cost of gasoline.

A gallon of regular at the Importech at 246 Bloomfield Ave. in Caldwell is currently about $3.50.
At the Sunoco on Passaic Avenue in West Caldwell, a gallon of regular is currently $3.65. At the Shell on Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell, you'll pay over a dime more per gallon than at the Shell, or $3.76.
Just out of town at the Fairfield Gulf on Rt. 46 a gallon of regular is going for $3.54.
