Woman Struck by Car on Bloomfield Avenue Monday Night Suffers Head Injuries
Victim struck while crossing at intersection of Hanford Place.
A woman who was struck by a car while crossing Bloomfield Avenue Monday night was taken to the hospital for treatment of head injuries, Caldwell Police said.
"We are still in the midst of gathering information and pulling all of it together," said Lt. James Bongiorno.
According to witnesses, the woman was crossing from the north side of Hanford Place at about 6:45 p.m. carrying what appeared to be groceries when she was hit by a car travelling east on Bloomfield Avenue.

Scott Isgett, of Rockaway, said he was having dinner with his family at when he heard a "thud." He said he went over to the window expecting to see a "fender bender" when he realized a woman had been struck. Isgett told his wife to call 911 and yelled for blankets.
Mexican blankets that decorate the restaurant were used to keep the victim warm as she lay on Bloomfield Avenue, Isgett said.

He said he helped to keep the victim from moving and tried keeping her awake. "She stayed awake," he said.
According to witnesses, the driver, an elderly man in a late-model Buick, said he did not see the pedestrian. The Buick had an elderly woman in the passenger seat.
Essex Fells Police assisted with diverting traffic onto Gould Place. The eastbound side of Bloomfield Avenue was closed from Gould until the entrance of Jack's Foodtown.
The West Essex First Aid Squad transported the victim to the hospital. Bongiorno said he did not know which hospital she was taken to.
The scene was cleared at approximately 7:05 p.m.
