📰 News we're reading

1. Cape May - Google Arts & Culture (google.com) — You live in a city that’s both a National Historic Landmark and one of America’s most celebrated beach destinations, with Victorian architecture and a summer population that can swell to 50,000 visitors. This snapshot of Cape May highlights its shrinking year-round population, historic district designation, and enduring draw as a premier Mid-Atlantic resort town.

2. This beach has the best etiquette in New Jersey, survey says (northjersey.com) — The Cove at Cape May has been singled out by a national survey as New Jersey’s beach with the best etiquette, praised for its cleanliness, calm vibe, and respect for personal space. Respondents highlighted Cape May’s quieter, family-oriented atmosphere and historic charm, even as many Americans say overcrowding, noise, and trash can still ruin a beach day elsewhere.

3. The best (N.J.) beers: Brewers Guild selects 2026 honorees (binje.com) — Cape May beer fans can toast several big wins, as Cape May Brewing Co. earned multiple medals at the 2026 New Jersey Brewers Cup, including honors for Cape May IPA, Hazy Dawn, and Oktoberfest. The statewide competition drew more than 50 breweries and 245 entries, showcasing how prominently Cape May’s craft beer scene now ranks across New Jersey.

4. Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Cape May Co. Shooting: Officials (patch.com) — Law enforcement in Cape May County charged a 20-year-old Villas resident with attempted murder and related offenses after gunshots were reported near the Mulligan Sports Complex in Lower Township on Aug. 29. No one was injured, the suspect was arrested without incident, and officials say there’s no ongoing public threat while they continue to seek additional information from residents.
