Soccer Player

New Jersey is home to a host of famous soccer players, including Carli Lloyd, Heather O'Reilly and Tobin Heath, just to name a few. You can get this look by wearing sweatpants and any soccer jersey you might have and chanting USA all night.

Depending on your view, MTV's "Jersey Shore" was either one of NJ's best moments... or one of its worst. Dress up as nearly any character by putting on your club best, teasing your hair and spraying on extra spray tan. You can also buy pre-packaged costumes at any strip mall Halloween store.

Either the hockey team or the paranormal being — take your pick. For the hockey team, you could get away with wearing a Devils jersey and calling it a day. For the monster, you'll have to get creative with makeup and wings.

Parkway Exit Sign

This is a great idea for the truly last-minute planner: a green T-shirt and some white fabric paint, and you've got yourself a costume. If you want to get a little more into it, you can use green poster board to make a wearable sign proudly boasting what exit you're from.

Astronaut

We have our fair share of astronauts from the Garden State, including Buzz Aldrin and Scott Kelly. You can find astronaut suits at most Halloween stores and online. This could also double as a couples or best friends costume, with your other half dressing up as an alien.

If you plan on being out trick-or-treating with kids on Halloween, this costume gives you plenty of opportunity to layer up jackets underneath it. Wear an old set of black graduation robes, carry a gavel, and say patriotic things all night to be Supreme Court Justice (and New Jersey native) Samuel Alito.

Hamilton has been popular in recent years thanks to the Broadway smash hit, but his rival Aaron Burr hailed from right here in New Jersey — and even killed Hamilton in a duel in Weehawken. To get this look, wear a colonial-era costume and hat (bonus points if you sing the songs all night).

A Shoebe

Love them or hate them, a shoebe is an easy enough Halloween costume. Wear shorts, a Hawaiian shirt, sandals and socks, and complain about the traffic and having to pay to get on the beaches. Want to really commit? Use blush to get that "fresh sunburn" look so many beachgoers sport towards the end of the day.

Silent Movie Star

Hollywood might be where the movie stars live now, but at one point, it looked like that honor would belong to New Jersey, where Thomas Edison helped invent the film camera. Dress up in a black flapper dress and do your makeup in all gray to achieve the on-camera silent movie star look.

War Of The Worlds Alien

Because the "War of the Worlds" was a radio broadcast, you have some leeway with how to dress as an alien. The broadcast described the aliens as tentacled and able to shoot heat rays, so the choices are wide open. You can turn this into a group costume by having friends dress as a radio broadcaster, a police officer and a panicked listener (or you could all be heat-shooting aliens).

Beach Chair Chris Christie

The best part of this costume? You get to sit down all night. Dress in your beach best (preferably in black) and bring a beach chair to the party. When friends ask why you brought your own chair, vigorously defend your choices.

Pork Roll

This can be a cute and easy baby costume: make a sleep sack out of a tan fabric, and draw on the Taylor Ham logo. For adults, you can make a wearable pork roll slice out of pink poster paper — get your friends to dress as a slice of cheese and an egg, and you've got a fun group costume.

Gold Finch

The state bird, the gold finch, is a great costume for New Jersey lovers who are also good at makeup. Using gold glitter and costume feathers, you can transform into the tiny bird and impress your friends.

Any Meryl Streep Character

There's so many to pick from, we couldn't narrow it down. Wear jeans and a loose white shirt and be Donna Sheridan from "Mama Mia," or dress in your high-fashion best as Miranda Priestly from the "Devil Wears Prada." The Summit native has had so many high-profile roles, the choices are nearly limitless.

Kellyanne Conway

Wear your business best and a blonde wig to be President Trump's righ-thand woman, Kellyanne Conway (who hails from Camden). To make the costume more specific, hold up signs saying "Conclusion? Collusion" as she did in one memorable Fox News interview.

Atlantic City is known for its casinos, so why not highlight that in your Halloween costume? A blackjack dealer is an easy way to personify A.C., but more adventurous revelers can dress up as showgirls.

Bruce Springsteen

No New Jersey Halloween costume list would be complete without The Boss. Wear relaxed-fit jeans with a red baseball hat in the pocket, a tucked in white T-shirt and pose in front of an American flag all night. If you can sing, lead your friends in sing-alongs of some of his best songs, and you'll be the life of the party.
