2 Attempted Car Thefts In Chatham Township, Police Issue Warning

Both attempts were unsuccessful and took place during the day, Chatham Police said.

CHATHAM, NJ — Two attempted car thefts occurred in Chatham, according to an announcement from the police department.

Chatham Township police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and keep key fobs and garage door openers inside their homes, amidst the area's ongoing problem with motor vehicle theft.

Around 2 p.m. on Monday, June 13, a suspect attempted to steal a vehicle that was parked in a driveway on Lori Lane. After failing, the suspect fled in a stolen white Cadillac SUV. In addition, at around 5:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, a theft attempt was made on Peppermill Road.

"Please know that suspects are in the area all hours of the day and night shopping for vehicles to steal," police said.
