2020 Election Season Kicks Off In Chatham

CHATHAM, NJ - Despite the impact of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak in our area the primary election season is gearing up in Chatham Borough and Chatham Township.

Things appear quiet in Chatham Borough where two sitting councilmen have filed to win their party's nomination in July.

Republican Robert Weber and Democrat Leonard Resto have filed for another shot at the dais.

Chatham Township will have a new look in 2021 as sitting councilwoman Karen Schwarz is not running for reelection.

On the Democratic side, Brandon Melvin and Amee Shah are running to secure their party's nomination. For the Republicans sitting Mayor Michael Kelly is running again and so are Ashley Felice and Mark Hamilton. All three are hoping to secure their party's nomination.

Concerns over the new coronavirus have pushed the primary to July 7.
