CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough officials say significant progress has been made in recovery efforts from the recent storm this past weekend.
Hundreds of power outages have been restored, a majority of blocked roads have reopened, nearly all downed trees and hazardous wire locations have been cleared, and critical infrastructure are now operational.
Borough officials credited the around-the-clock work by Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), the Department of Public Works, and other emergency response partners.
As of Wednesday morning, 64 customers—about 2% of JCP&L customers in the borough—remain without power, while repairs continue on three damaged electrical circuits.
JCP&L expects to restore power to 31 additional customers on Wednesday, with another 52 restorations planned for Thursday.
The utility's current estimated completion time for the remaining restoration work is 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, although many customers are expected to regain service sooner as repairs continue.
