Chatham to Make Remembrance Procession from Memorial Park to Reasoner Park on the 25th Anniversary of 9-11 Terrorist Attacks (tapinto.net) — Chatham will hold its 25th anniversary 9-11 remembrance Friday at 6:30 p.m., starting at Memorial Park behind the library and processing to Reasoner Park. Residents can join the ceremony, simulcast on a large screen, and stay for an ice cream social hosted by the 9-11 Memorial Committee honoring thirteen locals lost that day.
2. Flames rip through Chatham commercial building housing 2 hair salons (news12.com) — An early-morning fire damaged two hair salons on South Passaic Avenue in Chatham, but officials say no one was inside and no injuries were reported. Firefighters from Chatham and nearby towns contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent apartments and businesses. The cause is still under investigation by local and county fire marshals.
3. Chatham Township Announces Schedule for Repaving of River Road; Set to Begin Thursday, Sept. 10 (tapinto.net) — River Road in Chatham Township will undergo milling, resurfacing, and upgrades from Fairmount Avenue to Passaic Street starting Thursday, Sept. 10, with workdays running 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Through traffic will be detoured during active construction, though local residents and school buses will still have access as crews complete two project phases this month.
4. No. 4 Delbarton boys soccer shuts out Chatham in first win of the season (nj.com subscription) — Chatham boys soccer fell 3-0 at home to fourth-ranked Delbarton, which controlled the match and outshot the Cougars 13-2. Chatham goalkeeper Ilan Dutton made 10 saves in the loss. The team looks to rebound when it hosts Livingston on Friday afternoon in another home matchup for local fans.
