Long Time Chatham Township Resident Dies

Douglass Vezzosi of Chatham Township

 

     Douglass Vezzosi, a life long resident of Southern Boulevard, died February 22nd, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was a graduate of Chatham Township High School and Earned a BA degree in Economics from Merrimack College in 1980.  He then turned his passion for cooking (especially for others) into a career and graduated Peter Kump’s NY Cooking School in 1996.

     In his youth, Doug was an exceptional athlete excelling in tennis, squash, and ice hockey.  As star defenseman for the Chatham Township Gladiators, he helped carry the Ice Hockey team to the first N.J state championship game against Brick Township in 1976.

     Doug was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Alice and is survived by his brother and sister in-law Gregory and Wendy, and their three children, Lauren, Scott, and Megan of Plymouth Minnesota.  He also leaves behind the very dearest of friends, four honorary nieces and nephews in the Lane children, Ryan Lane being his Godson, and his third rescue dog, Petey.

     With his big heart, helping hand and love of fun and laughter, a Memorial Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 1-4 PM at Café Beethoven, 262 Main Street in Chatham.  Donations in Doug’s name may be made to St. Hubert’s Giralda.
