Pre-Teen & Teen Summer Camp SummerQuest at Madison Area YMCA

(Madison, NJ) – This summer, every day can be an adventure when local teens and pre-teens entering 6th through 9th grade sign up for the Madison Area YMCA renowned Camp SummerQuest, a daily travel camp.  Appropriate for teens of all energy and skill levels, SummerQuest offers ten different weekly themes – the ideal solution for young teens to stay active with exciting experiences throughout the summer.

Priority registration is now available for all returning campers and Y members.  Open registration for all begins on Monday, February 28th at the Family Center, 111 Kings Road in Madison.  Registration hours at the Family Center for all camps are 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

Teens can select individual weeks or sign-up for the entire 10 weeks of summer camp.  “The sessions provide learning skills in teamwork, leadership, community service, communication, science, outdoor education, and history.  With so many activities to choose from, we are confident that at least one will be perfect for your teen” says Emily Galbraith, Teen Coordinator at the Madison Area YMCA.

        GREAT OUTDOORS WEEK, which runs from June 27th through July 1st, allows teens to spend time with Mother Nature, tubing, hiking and more.  BIKE AND HIKE WEEK begins July 5th with teens taking their bikes and their boots for a great adventure through various locations throughout New Jersey.  BEACH WEEK runs from July 11th through July 15th, and teens explore water sports, beach games and activities and professionally taught surf lessons are part of this infamous week. 

NYC WEEK runs from July 18th through July 22nd, where campers will scour NYC and learn its culture while having fun and getting to know all there is about the Big Apple.  CLIMBING WEEK runs from July 25th through July 29th and teens can grab a hold and build their muscle and self-confidence by rock climbing and doing wall and ropes courses.  RANCH WEEK runs from August 1st through August 5th, and campers will saddle up for a fun week of riding horses and learning about farm life.  BEST OF NEW JERSEY begins August 8th and campers will check out the best of what NJ has to offer, from the Skylands to the Shore, they’ll be exploring the Garden State.

PADDLE WEEK runs from August 15th through August 19th, and teens run deep as they canoe, raft and kayak their way through New Jersey. 

SUMMERQUEST ‘SURVIVOR’ WEEK runs from August 22nd through August 26th where campers test their body and mind and face off against fellow campers in a week full of activities; this features a double overnight at Camp Speers-Eljabar.  SUMMERQUEST WEEK ends the summer, running from August 29th through September 2nd, with a 4 night away trip sampling a bit of everything over the summer, from rock climbing, rafting, hiking and much, much more.

    All scheduled activities are subject to change. Campers are dropped off at the Madison Area YMCA Family Center and the Y staff provide transportation for campers to activities and back.  Each themed SummerQuest camp week includes one overnight stay that reflects that week’s experience.  The cost for most weekly sessions is $405.
