NORTH JERSEY CIVIL WAR ROUND TABLE PRESENTS:
SECESSION!
WAS IT ABOUT STATES’ RIGHTS, SLAVERY
OR JUST RAW ARROGANCE?
Presented by Prof. James R. Hedtke, Professor and Chair, History and Political Science (Retd), Cabrini University, And in dialogue with Rich Rosenthal
720,000 casualties, military bases still named after Confederate Generals, and the Civil War, the War of Rebellion, is still called by the South as the War of Northern Aggression. If you think you know all about Secession and the Civil War – you don’t!
Prof. Hedtke will discuss what people think happened, how the story became popular, what really happened, the two-nation theory and, of course, states’ rights and slavery.
About the Presenter: Prof Hedtke earned a B.S. from Saint Joseph's University, a MA in from Villanova University, and a Ph.D. from Temple University. He had taught history and political science at Cabrini University for 46 years.
Rich Rosenthal is the President of the North Jersey Civil War Round Table
This program is presented as a public service by the North Jersey Civil War Round Table.
