Chatham To Celebrate Arbor Day With Free Tree Seedling Giveaway
The state's annual campaign sets to help New Jersey's tree line recover after significant losses from Superstorm Sandy.
CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — Want to plant a tree in Chatham? Free seedlings will soon become available in the area.
Every year, the state makes free seedlings available throughout New Jersey in its effort to help New Jersey's tree line recover after significant losses from Superstorm Sandy. The seedling giveaways typically occur around Arbor Day, which is April 29 this year.
A seedling giveaway will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23 at the Chatham Township Municipal Building (58 Meyersville Rd.). Click here for all seedling-pickup locations and instructions on planting them.

The Arbor Day Foundation has worked to bring back New Jersey's tree line since the 2012 superstorm. The New Jersey Tree Recovery campaign partners the foundation with the New Jersey Forest Service. The partnership has distributed more than 300,000 trees, but many more are still needed, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
