Chatham Elementary, Middle School Additions OKed By Planning Board

Both schools will gain multiple new classrooms.

CHATHAM, NJ — Proposals to add classrooms to Milton Avenue School and Chatham Middle School were approved at Wednesday night's Planning Board meeting.

Milton will gain four classrooms (two on each on story) near the playground. Each classroom will have its own bathroom. The addition will add 2,800 to the school. The middle school will see three new STEM labs built on one level.

Construction will hopefully be finished for the next school year. Contracts will be awarded to builders sometime this month. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

The additions are just some of the construction projects happening in the district currently. Multiple schools are have had roofs replaced, the high school auditorium will be re-done early next year, and an overhaul of central office is currently in the planning stages (read more about that here).

Architect William Bannister discussed the plans at the board meeting, as seen in these videos taken by TapInto:
