Chatham High School Academic Team Prepares for National Tournament

The Chatham High School Academic Team feels confident about its chances in this weekend's National Academic Championship.

The championship is at Marymount University in Arlington, Va. this weekend, and the team qualified through several playoff finishes in local tournaments. Chatham's top team finished with a 2-4 record in its previous two trips to the tournament but is looking to surpass those previous results.

Chatham will enter teams in the varsity and junior varsity divisions and each team will play six preliminary matches on Friday and Saturday in an attempt to qualify for Sunday's playoff rounds.

Sophomore Michael Lovito and junior Sahil Seekond have been among the team's top scorers all year, and both will be looking for a first-ever playoff finish.
