Chatham Launches Door-To-Door Survey To Identify Lead Water Service Lines
Inspections take only a few minutes and are required under state and federal drinking water regulations.
CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham's Water Department will be going door to door throughout the community to inspect water service pipes entering homes and businesses as part of a state-mandated lead service line inventory.
Workers may knock on residents' doors to request a brief visual inspection of the water service line where it enters the building. The inspection takes only a few minutes and is required to ensure compliance with state and federal drinking water regulations.
All Water Department employees conducting the survey will carry proper identification.
