Chatham Methodist Preschool Student Designs New School Logo

Exciting news for the Chatham United Methodist Nursery School. The program changes name and logo after 47 years.

The Chatham United Methodist Nursery School and Mother's Morning Out Program have existed for over 47 years together in the same hallways of the Chatham United Methodist Church at 460 Main Street. The programs always shared a similar mission to create life-long learners through exploration and purposeful play. This past year, the programs decided to combine efforts. We needed a "new name and new look," said Amy Crandall, Director. "I started to think of ways to convey the principles we have always stood for and I could not think of a better person than a former student to help us explore what our school means." Ingrid Hoerrner attended the Nursery School 15 years ago. She fondly recalls her first painting experience at the easel. "I remember we were allowed to use two colors at a time so my Mom had all these striking paintings in just purple and red." Ingrid has gone on to build on her creativity as an art student at Chatham High School and currently attends Parson School of Design in NYC.

Ingrid's sister and brother also attended the Nursery School and her mother, Karen Hoerrner, served on the school board. Ingrid explains, "I'm glad I got to contribute something to a school that was so important to my family and my creative development." "At Chatham Methodist Preschool we respect the child, building self-confidence and self-esteem by allowing the child to have plenty of time every school day to explore and create," says Amy Crandall. Ingrid created a wonderful new logo for our school and we are thankful for her artistic talents. And to think it all started at the paint easel.
