Chatham, NJ Primary Election Results
As voting has ended in a primary election heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, a number of candidates will await results.
CHATHAM, NJ – As Tuesday's New Jersey primary election was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, which led to many votes to be cast by mail, unofficial results have began to be announced at the local level. Election officials announced Wednesday morning that all results are pending mail-in and provisional ballots and may not be official for several days.
In Chatham Township, Democrats Brandon Melvin and Amee Shah are running to secure their party's nomination. As of Wednesday morning, Shah garnered 769 votes (50.36 percent) while Melvin picked up 744 votes (48.72 percent). There were 14 write-in votes for a total of 1,527, according to results posted onthe Morris County website Wednesday morning.
For the Republicans, sitting Mayor Michael Kelly is running again and so are Ashley Felice and Mark Hamilton. Hamilton leads the race as of Wednesday with 645 votes while Felice followed with 629 and 289 for Kelly as 1,580 ballots were cast.

Republican Robert Weber and Democrat Leonard Resto have filed for another shot at the dais. Resto is also joined by Democrat Frank Trulio. According to results posted Wednesday, Weber picked up 269 votes (89.67 percent) with Resto garnering 727 in the uncontested race.
