Chatham Road Closure: How The Water Main Replacement Will Affect You
Work starts this Saturday and will last a week.
CHATHAM, NJ— As work gets underway replacing a water main in Chatham, residents can expect disruptions to their morning commute.
Lafayette Ave will get a brand new water main, and the first phase begins Saturday. Construction will run between Lenape Trail to Southern Boulevard.
During this time, Lafayette Ave will be closed to traffic between Shunpike Road and Southern Boulevard.

Work will take place during the following times:
- Saturday, Feb. 18: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 20: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb: 21: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 22: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 23: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, Feb. 24: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chatham schools will be closed for winter recess during this time, but anyone who needs to access either Chatham High School or Lafayette School will be allowed through.
